Flying Heritage Collection Tour
November 11 @ 10:00 am - 1:30 pm$8
Spend Veterans’ Day with a BMW Radial Engine
Paul Allen’s Flying Heritage Collection at Paine Field in Everett has the only flying BMW 801 radial engine in the world. Can you think of a better way to spend Veterans’ Day than with that very engine, mounted in a Focke Wulf 190 A-5? Neither could we.
Club members are invited to join us on November 11th, Saturday, Veterans’ Day, at the Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum. The start time is 10:00 am, right when the Museum opens. We have arranged for several docents with special knowledge of this particular airplane and engine to provide us with guided tours, with an extra-long stop at the plane with the BMW engine.
We’re limited to 75 people in the group, for three tours of 25 people each. For that reason, please RSVP to me at email@example.com. Museum visits are usually $14 for adults, $12 for seniors and $10 for youth ages 6-17. But because of the size of our group, the admission price is $8 for all. You will pay the Museum; the Club will not be handling any money.
We also won’t be providing food or beverages, so arrive fully caffeinated. There are two buildings of artifacts and you should plan on about two hours to see everything. We should finish just in time for lunch, which is on your own.
Note that Paul Allen’s Collection is now more than just airplanes. It now includes tanks, giant guns, armored vehicles, an Enigma coding machine, rockets and, well, at lot of other cool stuff. Many of us as children played with toys or built models of this sort of thing. Paul just collects the real things. Nice he shares them with us.
