Brian H. reports on various activities for 1999:

1.      Karting Event on Feb. 28 at Traxx in Mukilteo.  The activity will run from Noon-3PM and the cost will be $65 per person.  The event will be run like an enduro with 4-man teams.  Roger needs to issue a $500 deposit check.

2.      Video Night on April 10 at Hugh’s restaurant.  The event will be preceded by a wine tasting and dinner at 7 PM with videos starting around 9 PM.

3.      Auto Tours: Brian will coordinate a May 22 lunch run to Chehalis.  Carl Seeger will coordinate a tour in the Fall - possibly Sept. 11-12 with the Canadian Club.

Other potential events for 1999 per Brian:

1.      Emerald Downs night.  Cost would be $75 which includes use of a suite, VIP parking, betting area, beverages and snacks.

2.      Show and Shine.  Could be held in conjunction with the June 12 track event at SIR.

3.      New Members Night.  March 27th with a location to be decided.

4.      Ladies Tech Session.  Brian would like to see it be more than a powderpuff affair.  Rick Brown of BMW Bellevue will help with ideas.  Rick sees all sorts of odd questions from both men and women.

5.      M-Car gathering at Coullon Park in Renton.  An opportunity for M-car people to meet and compare upgrades and other issues related to these specialty cars.

6.      Local Z3 Fest.  Work with the dealerships and major service centers to promote the event.  This event would be an excellent opportunity to get a number of new people aware of the club.

Special Events:

Banquet: Various coordination issues were discussed.  The event is January 23!  Evelyn distributed a sign-up sheet for helping during the banquet.

Track Committee

Jacqueline reports that the Instructors Clinic will be at SIR on February 20th.  She said that most instructors agreed with the $100 fee.

The Kitch school for experienced drivers will be April 7-8.  The cost is tentatively set at $1,100.  Add $300 for use of one of their Neons.

The potential Thunderhill track day in California will be Friday, June 25.

Lance will help promote the Portland ACA track dates at PIR to our club members.  The goal is to get around a dozen or more people heading down to their events.

Treasurer:

Roger was absent due to an illness.  Hugh would like to see the final numbers on the Auto Show.

Roster:

Presently sitting on around 963 members.

Magazine:

David turned in the actual magazine budget expenditures for 1998.  Discussion followed regarding revamping the calendar and expanding it in the magazine.  At the same time deleting the table of contents was discussed.  Additional discussion regarding adding 8 pages to the magazine.  David will present budget numbers to add 8 pages.

The Lightfoots have had discussions with the Portland ACA chapter about sending our magazine to their members and including a couple of pages for their use.  Various options were discussed and more dialogue with Portland will ensue.  The biggest concern appears to be taking on the logistics of their database and mailing.  Most would prefer to send Portland ACA a box with 250 magazines for them to distribute.

Other Issues:

General discussion on raising the general yearly dues to $30.  The last increase was in the mid 1980s.  No decision was made.  The additional $5 would help pay for the 8 page addition to the magazine.

ACA/CCA issues were discussed.  New attendees to a Board Meeting were brought up to date on what the various issues are.

Roundabout:

Kevin York is working on a securing an ACA booth at the Vintage Races at SIR.

Roger W. is working on an updated discount list.

Brian H. will send info regarding our ‘99 activities to Zundfolge Advertisers.  He reports that he is now a Roundel staff  photographer. - Congratulations!
