Opening Comments:
ACA/CCA Merger Issues
Ops Manual Committee – Need committee formed to start working on an OPS Manual.
Other ACA/CCA Transition Issues – Report Forms that Lance previously distributed each have their own deadline. Please check yours and send it in as needed. A motion was made and seconded to officially endorse a CCA Board meeting here in the Seattle area for August 24-26, 2001.
President’s Report:
Reminder to get our checks to the treasurer so they can be deposited.
Approximately 200 greeting cards went out.
Lance will be in Daytona and will miss the February meeting. Tom Cox will do the food for the next meeting.
John Love, consultant for future plans for SIR, will be asked to make a presentation to our club and other area clubs, regarding plans for SIR (Pacific Raceways).
A Dinan event with Strictly BMW and BMW Seattle could take place this summer between track events.
No new-member sign ups with a driving school application. Make sure spouses/kids know they need to be an "Associate" member.
Treasurer Report:
Bill S. sent in this report in his absence:
"We are in good shape beginning our first full year as a CCA chapter. We have a sizable cash reserve. Obviously though, it is still very important for all committee chairs to try to work within an established budget. The biggest concern for all of us is, I think, the Zundfolge. The good news is that with our larger than expected total membership and the increased advertising revenue, we appear to be on track for a wash regarding net change to the Zundfolge economics."
Tom Cox reported letterhead and envelopes would be ordered soon.
General Meetings:
Automotive Legal Talk – 02/03 Lucetta put a good article in this magazine.
Wine Tasting – 02/21 Chris Linder reported the event is still scheduled as planned.
Member Appreciation Meeting – 03/10 – Discussion regarding food options. The Board approved a $500 budget for lunch.
E36 Tech Session – 03/31 Jim Millet reported the fellows at Car Tender would be hosting the event (Steve Malland, John McDermott, & Russell Kimble)
Video Night – Need to change date. Will schedule for a weekday evening at Bison Creek Pizza in Burien.
Roster/Membership:
Greg reported things are going okay getting things from National. There are approximately 2379 mailing list labels. There are 2186 members reported by National. Need to figure out the difference of 200. Joni estimated the amount of envelopes she will need for new member information packets.
Banquet: January 27th 2001
Rick reported he is getting reservations without the dinner choices marked. He will need to contact those and get their dinner selection. Donations need to be brought to him as soon as possible. He needs a check for the D.J. A glass of wine with dinner and appetizers are included in the dinner prices. We need to get this information out to the club members via an email and article in the magazine. Hugh will provide a credit card swiper. Lance and Rick will co-host as M.C.’s. Steve Niver will contact the auctioneer to inform him of the new location for the banquet.
Tom Cox reported bid sheets for the banquet are being re-designed with pre-printed bid increments.
Track & Driving Schools:
Jacqueline reported the January issue of the Zundfolge begins to explain the new CCA regulations for Track and Driving Schools. The Instructor’s clinic may need to be limited if there are too many participants. First choice will go to current instructors and then to our club members before opening enrollment to other chapters. There was discussion regarding radio intercoms that the instructors may want to purchase for use in the many driving schools. Jacqueline will find out if Scott Adare will take orders from individuals, or if it needs to be a "package order". There is a need for a replacement for the contest board representative for I.C.S.C.C. since Jacqueline is now the conference secretary. Bill S. will be asked if he is willing to do this job.
Ken Hill reported a Jim Russell driving school has taken the date we tried to get for Sears Point.
Tours and Rally:
Karl spoke with Steve Poole from the Porsche Club regarding the LeMay collection. It looks promising that we will be able to have a Saturday date in June, July or August for our club to have an event (one-day tour) and the charge will be a donation, possibly $5.00. Karl will get more details and report back to the board.
Lance reported that Satch has offered to come and speak at a rally event. Lance thought we could end our rally at a location for an informal dinner and have Satch as a speaker. The informal dinner and speaker could be advertised for all club members to come out and listen to Satch’s talk, even if they don’t participate in the preceding rally.
Ken Olsen, member, has offered to organize a T.S.D. Rally. He can set up the course and will need help to get staff for check points, etc. Jim Millet has offered to help Ken. It could be a simple rally to build interest. We would need a ground school before the event. Ken can organize this event, including the written instructions needed. Ken will write an article for our magazine to explain what it is all about. Then he will follow up with an article announcing when we are having the event. The next article will have a registration form for the event. Following the event, Ken will write a follow-up article for the magazine. A possible date for this event could be July 14th. Satch can be invited to this event, and if he can make it that would be fine, and if not, we can invite him to the next rally we hold.
Web Site:
In Dale’s absence this report was read:
"As of today, www.bmwpugetsound.com is pointing to the new ISP (Eskimo.com) and is up and running fine. In the next day or so, www.bmwpugetsound.org should be moved over to the new site as well, the request is in, just waiting for Network Solutions to make the change.
The old domain name, www.bmwaca.org is still pointing to the old ISP (awc.net), but I am working with Eskimo to point bmwaca.org at the new site as well. This will cost $48 for 2 years. We should no longer be paying anything to awc.net.
I’m working on adding a message board to the site, and I expect it to be up in several weeks. I’ll try to have a short blurb for the Zundfolge announcing this addition.
Regarding the Banquet contributions, I’ve contacted Mt. Si Golf course and they have agreed to contribute a four some round of golf."
There was discussion regarding message boards. Lance, Greg, and Tom have volunteered to be monitors. We can try it and see how it goes.
Concours:
Chris reported she is hoping the date, July 29th, will be available at Robinswood. She is getting the application in and will wait for an answer. It was suggested she get a back-up location and Marymoor Park in Redmond was suggested as an alternative. She will work on that.
Zundfolge:
January 12th is the deadline for the next magazine. Bill S. is writing the feature article for February Zundfolge. Lucetta has extra January magazines.
