Opening Comments:
Lance distributed a print out from the database showing our current members as of 11/16/00 to be 2186.
ACA/CCA Merger Issues:
By-Laws Committee update: Elections Report from Lucetta Lightfoot. There were a total of 12 votes received.
Other ACA/CCA Transition Issues: Lance distributed a memorandum from BMW CCA National Office showing the various forms that need to be filled out and returned to the National Office.
There was discussion regarding whether our board should make an endorsement for Keith for the Regional VP position. It was decided both candidates would be asked to submit a statement on issues related to our chapter for the Pacific Regional VP position.
Lucetta reported we need board approval to spend additional monies for window stickers. After discussion it was decided we could cut our artwork by 3/4" to make it fit the printer’s estimate. We will ask Jill to cut the artwork. If she is unable to do that, the board voted and approved to spend an additional amount of money, approximately $270.
Greg Mierz reported the roster in the National Database shows approximately 2100 without associate members listed. His numbers are 2379 with associate members. He gave feedback to National on their efforts to change the data.
Tom Cox reported he is working on prices for the stationary supplies needed.
President’s Report:
Lance distributed the Greeting Card sample in black & white. The color is being done at this time. It will cost between $100-150 for supplies and postage. The board voted to approve spending the money. David moved to approve, it was seconded, and approved.
Lance clarified our official name in the by-laws is BMW CCA Puget Sound Region. He also reported there is an article in the next magazine clarifying the rebate program. The magazine will also advise that new window stickers will be available with a self-addressed, stamped envelope, and will be available at club functions as well. Lance distributed an attendance re-cap that shows our events over the past year have been very well attended. Bill S. suggested we print a yearly review for everyone to see what we’ve done this past year.
Treasurer Report:
Bill reported our C.D. rolled over and went from 5.6% to 6.2%. All of our delinquent advertisers are up to speed. Our deposit was returned to us from the Harbor Club. We paid SIR one half for next year’s deposit.
General Meetings:
Automotive Legal Talk 02/03 – Lucetta asked the board for additional input on what we want to have our guest talk about in addition to the topics he will be presenting to our members.
Wine Tasting 02/21 – Chris Linder reported the January and February magazines will advertise this event. It will cost $25/person to sample various wines, and enjoy hot and cold appetizers. We need a minimum of 40 people. We can have up to 80 maximum in attendance. Chris has invited another club to join us so we can meet our minimum requirement to hold the event. The event will be at Esquins, which is located at 4th and Lander in Seattle.
New Member Meeting 03/10 – The meeting will be held at Simpatico Bistro in Wallingford, Seattle. There was discussion regarding starting time and food options and changing the name of the event to make it clear it is intended for all members. Jacqueline will have options on food choices and prices for our next board meeting. An article will be in the January and February issues, and we will use the bulk email for an announcement as well.
E36 M3 Tech Session 03/31 – Car Tender will host this event. Jim Millet is coordinating the event with help from Dale B. and Jeff James.
Video Night 04/21 – No news on this event at this time.
Karting at "Champs", November 12th Follow up – Rick Brown will have a follow-up article for the January issue.
Banquet 01/27/01:
Rick Brown gave a report to Lucetta in his absence. There is a dress code for the Bear Creek Country Club requesting NO DENIM clothing allowed. Our articles on this event should stress this is a semi-formal banquet. Email Lucetta with the donations we’ve received so a list can be printed in the next issue of the magazine. Tom Cox and Lucetta will work on bid sheets. There was board discussion regarding our club buying wine for the banquet. It has always been our policy not to buy alcohol. Wine should be available for purchase.
Track and Driving Schools:
Jacqueline reported our goal is driver training. She has a schedule for track dates at both SIR and Bremerton, which will be published in the January magazine. The January issue will have a track review for the year 2000 and information on the new CCA requirements. There are questions on rules for carrying passengers, tech inspections, and insurance on racecars at driving schools, and risk and liability for school attendees. Dan Tackett is the Driving Events coordinator for the Pacific Region in San Diego and he will be a good contact person for some of our questions. CCA holds an Instructors Clinic every year and each chapter is allowed to send representatives to the clinic. David L suggested Jacqueline bring our handbook to that clinic and have the handbook on disk form also, and make it available to everyone at the clinic. Jacqueline would like T-Shirts made for the Instructor’s Clinic. Bill S. asked if we could have really nice polo shirts with our logo embroidered on it.
Tours/Rally:
Karl reported the BMW Car Club of British Columbia would host the Leavenworth trip for 200l. The Bavarian Auto Club of Vancouver Island has proposed to hold the "Octoberfest" event in 2002 on Vancouver Island. It was reported that Harold Lemay passed away and his son is taking over the work of his auto collection in Tacoma. Karl wondered if we could do a surprise tour to the Lemay’s car collection but it was noted it would be too difficult to hold an actual event to view this collection. Instead, Bill L and David L will check out the possibility of advertising the collection to our members so they can make their own arrangements to view such a wonderful collection of cars so close to our area.
Web Site:
It was reported the new ISP has been taken care of and that it is a very nice company to work with.
Concours:
Chris L is checking on the availability of Robinswood again.
Zundfolge:
The January issue will feature this year’s track review. The February issue will feature the 2000 line up of new cars. Our new ad rates have generated some feedback from advertisers. David discussed the analysis of Bulk Mail before and after the CCA merger. We printed 2400 magazines and will need to increase that number to 2500 copies.
Roster/Membership:
Address changes need to go to National for their database.
