attended. Her complete report was given last month.

Additional information on this is available through the website.
Treasurers Report
Marty reported that an error was found in his report. He will
correct this error and report to the Board via email as soon as possible.
General Meeting and Non-track Event Calendar
Rich Milham's name and contact information will be added to
the Board Contact list as Risk Management. Rich will also act as the Media
Representative for the club.
Lance reported on the sale of club T-shirts at two recent functions.
Membership Incentive Program was discussed by Lynne. She states the she met with
Steve Bates of BMW Seattle and explained how the program works. She stated that
he was interested, as several of the local dealers have been in participating
with our club to increase membership. BMW Seattle is willing to send one
salesperson and a new car to spend a few hours at our Sunday, July 10th driving
event at PSR.
There was a long discussion about how to better involve the local dealerships in
the club and let them know about our events.
Upcoming Events:
Jeff reported on the upcoming Dyno Event and BBQ on July 30th. He confirmed
volunteers for this event.
De-Anna Martin reported that the Portland Historics event was down 46 cars from
last year, possibly due to several
Missed publication deadlines.
Past Events:
Lance reported that the Griots Garage Tech Session saw about 100 people in
attendance.
David reported on the Group 2 Motorsports Event. This event also had
approximately 100 people.
The BMW Corral at the SOVREN Historic Race was filled with Club members. Lucetta
was able to obtain additional tickets for Club members for the Sunday Corral.
New Event Ideas?
Alan reports the Le May tour will be held on July 16th.
The cost is $10.00 per car.
Rick states that the Tech Event at Speedware will be held on August 13th. 10:00
- 12:00. They will be doing interior modifications like rollbars.
There has been no movement on the Auto Cross issue. A location still cannot be
located. A general discussion was held in reference to trying to have our own
Auto Cross event versus taking part in the local established events.
Per Marty and Alan, the Hill Climb Tour scheduled for October is in the final
planning stages.
Alan still plans to have a fall tour to the Leavenworth area. Details still
pending.
David discussed the BMW Collectibles Event. This event is planned for sometime
in early December. He mentions
Foster Wheel and Tire and Convertibles Only have made it known that they would
be interested in doing either a Tech session or some sort of presentation on
their products if interested. Jeff Butler agreed to try and
coordinate something with these folks. David also suggested that the author of
the book " Long Straights and
Hair Pin Turns", a book on classic road racing in the Northwest, might be
interested in giving a talk about this subject.
David states that he has a DVD, "The Barn Discovery", a movie about the history
of BMWs that he wonders if a social night and DVD showing would be of interest
to the club.
The Executive Car Club of America has contacted David to see if anyone of our
members would be interested in
participating in their club. This club buys exotic cars and then "timeshares"
them to its members.
Track Events
• Tom Olsson reports that the June 4th and 5th Track event
made approximately $2000.00 for our club and it looks like the July 10th event
will net us about $1500.00.
• Tom also has decided that a wrecker will be on standby at the track for all
our events. The cost is $250.00 for the day. This will eliminate the wait times
for the wrecker to be called to the track in the event of an incident.
• It is expected that it will be at least five years before the recently
announced motorsports facility planned in the Bremerton area will be available
for club use.
• The existing facility at the Bremerton Airport is being reverted to aviation
use, and will not be available for motorsports use after the end of the 2005
event year.
• Tom Olsson will no longer be able to attend the Thursday night Board Meeting.
He will be going back to college to become a CPA and classes are on Thursday
night. The Board will allow him to designate a proxy for important Board issues
and votes. He will continue to stay in contact with the Board via email and
phone.
Tours/Rally
• No new events planned.
SIG Groups /Events
• David remains interested in starting a Mini SIG. He
mentions that there is now a second member in this SIG.
• Mike reported that he had 9 cars at his BBQ on June 25th.
• There were several members present who are interested in starting an E46 SIG.
They will discuss this with Mike after this Board Meeting. Many suggestions were
offered to these members on how to get this SIG up and running.
Upcoming Events:
No new info on the E30 Picnic. It will be held on Sunday, August 14th at the XXX
Drive Inn.
No new info on the 8 Series Event scheduled for August 19 - 21 on Whidbey
Island.
Marty needs a new suggestion for a park venue for the E36 Event. Newcastle could
handle 95 cars and he would like to combine it with a swap meet. More
information to follow.
2005-2006 Banquet
De-Anna has researched several locations for the Banquet. She
reports that the Museum of Flight is not appropriate. It is very expensive,
there would be no set up time and the food would be an additional expense. The
Seattle Design Center is available on three dates in January; the 14th, the 21st
and the 29th. Meal cost analysis sheets were supplied to each board member.
David is still attempting to contact Bill Auberlen to act as speaker for our
banquet. He wants to continue to try to contact him for one more month and then
will explore alternatives. Lynne wants to go with the tropical theme discussed
at the last meeting. De Anna wants to work harder on the level and diversity of
the auction items. The majority of the Board Members felt that the 21st of
January would be the best day for this event.
Concours
Lance passed out posters for local businesses and ask
volunteers to deliver them. He also mentioned that the Renton River Days Parade
is asking for the use of four seat convertibles for the parade on Saturday prior
to the Concours. Music will not be provided this year. The use of a PA system
was discussed. Tom Cox will explore the options and set up issues involved in
having a PA system at the event.
Zündfolge
Lucetta reports that she had a problem with her printing
service causing some delays in turnaround time with this issue of the magazine.
These problems have been corrected. The deadline for the August issue is July
5th.
Roster/Membership
Louis reported that membership numbers are relatively stable.
Lynne mentioned that nationally, membership is only down about 1% for the past
quarter.
Web Site
Tom again encouraged Board members to join the Yahoo group.
He states that he has approximately 500 names on this group so far.
The next Board
Meeting will be held on August 4th, 2005 at the Mercer Island Fire Station 91. This meeting will start at 6:45 p.m.
de-Anna Martin volunteered to bring food for this meeting.
Roundabout
Jeff recently returned from a camping trip and other than the train, he
had a wonderful time.
Tom O discussed his new educational goals.
Louis talked about Jane's Saturn Ion and how he has become impressed
with its performance and handling.
David mentioned that the Hill brothers are participating in the 24 Hour
Daytona event and wonders about club support. This will be an agenda
item for next month.
Mike is volunteering at Le May Automotive. He mentions that the advance
man for the museum, Steven Kovach, would like to do club presentation
about the museum.
Alan recently purchased a 99 M Coupe from Spokane. He is also wondering
if anyone is interested in going to Oktoberfest in North Carolina.
Lucetta received a flier from the Kirkland Concours.
Lance ask that the posters for the Concours be distributed ASAP.
