Board Meeting Minutes
March 3, 2005
The meeting
was called to order by President Rick Gulstrom at 7:03 PM at the
Mercer Island Fire Station 91. Those in attendance were:

Opening Comments
Rick Gulstrom welcomed everyone.
President's Report
•
News from National
-
was distributed via email prior to the meeting, and so was not
discussed. The newsletter is available to anyone on the National
website -
www.bmwcca.org
• Bylaws
sent in to National.
• Crisis Response Plan - Rick and
the Driving Events Committee will have a conference call with Wynne for
a trial run of National's new Chapter Crisis Response Plan.
• Insurance - There is interest in
creating a Risk Management Board position. Discussion will
continue at the April meeting.
• 2004 ZF public service award application was submitted by Lance.
Treasurer's Report
Martin reports that the treasury is in good shape, as usual.
Martin
submitted a financial statement, which is attached to these minutes by
its mention. The Chapter has assets of $89,965.56, $50,029.71 in cash, and no outstanding debts. All of the 2005 Pacific
Raceways dates have been prepaid. A financial statement for the
Instructor Clinic was passed out by Tom Olsson. The event lost
$441.81, which is right on the budget. Mini storage has been
rented in Factoria to store Club supplies.
Club T-shirts
Lance is setting up a special order for t-shirts, sweatshirts, etc.
There will be a promo in the April Zündfolge.
General Meetings Past events:
Safety Gear Meeting, 2/19 - Jeff
reports approx. 40 people attended. Thank you to Andy Collins for
an excellent presentation.
Amateur Racing Q&A, 2/19 - Jeff
reports approx. 30 people attended and all went very well. Lots of
new faces in attendance.
Upcoming events:
VRM Tour, 3/5 - Bill reports that
he has about 50 reservations and is getting quite a bit of exposure on
the various bulletin boards.
All Members' Meeting, 3/26 -
de-Anna reports that the event is going as planned. Raffle
items have been received. An agenda for the event was passed out.
Paint & Bodywork Tech Session, 4/26 -
To be
held at Haury's Lake City Collision. Jim will coordinate this
event.
Women's Tech Session, 5/?? - To
be held at Car Tender, date TBD.
Karting Enduro, 5/15 - David
Clary reports that everything is going as planned. Sykart has been
reserved.
Detail Tech Session, 6/?? -
in preparation for Concours in July. Venue and date TBA
Dyno day, 7/?? - at Carb Conn,
still looking for a suitable date.
New Event ideas:
• Martin is still working on an Autocross event. He
has not had much luck finding another Club to sublet half of Bremerton
from. The venue is the largest hurdle to overcome. He will
continue to investigate other possibilities.
Track Committee
Past Events -
• Instructor Clinic was great success.
18 new Instructors were signed off.
Upcoming Events -
• Novice Clinic is right
around the corner. Registration closes March 5. Everything
is ready to go.
• There will be an article in the April Zündfolge promoting the
June 4/5 co-op school with the PCA PNWR.
General Business -
• Tom Olsson attended a Road
Course Advisory Board meeting at Pacific Raceways on 2/20. PR has
completely redone turn 9, including moving the apex 10 feet in and
improving drainage. The RCAB is contemplating becoming a formal
non-profit entity, but that is still in the planning stages. A
track clean-up / tire wall construction day has been scheduled for March
20.
Tours and Rally
Tours -
no report
Rally (4/30) - Jeffrey reports that he held
an informal Rally class a few weeks ago which 13 people attended.
Dean Schindell came down from BC to talk about navigation skills.
All of his notes have been posted on the website. The entrance fee
will be the same as last year. There will be an E28 class, which
is the featured class at this year's Concours. The local MINI club
is also sponsoring their own class.
SIG Groups and Events - David
Clary reports that he went to an E28 gathering a few weekends ago. The
E30 Picnic (8/13) is going as planned.
Banquet
•
de-Anna reports that she met with the Parkinson's Foundation on 2/9 to
present the check from the Club.
•
Charity options were discussed for next year. Board members to
present possible charities at the April meeting.
Concours (7/24) - going as
planned

Jim reports that we have a new advertiser - Group 2
•
There was a problem with the mailing service not receiving the mailing
list, so the March issue is
delayed.
Roster and Membership
Local membership is going down a little bit each month this year.
Lynne received great new pamphlet holders from National, and plans were
discussed for their distribution to local businesses.
Website - Carrie Bishop to represent
the Chapter at the coming National Conference.
Next Board meeting -Thursday, April 7th
The next Board meeting will be at the
Mercer Island Fire Station 91.
David Clary will provide the food. The fire station has been secured for
Board meetings through August.
Roundabout
Louis - He and Jane will not be able
to attend the next 2 Board meetings.
Tom - the Club needs to
purchase some new cones for Don Kitch, as we use his cones when we have
schools at Pacific Raceways.
