President's Report
News from National
• Newsletter/Webmaster conference
May 13-15, 2005
• D&O
insurance issue still being considered
• Ongoing effort to renew local Chapter charters
• Upcoming elections - Eddy Funahashi will most likely run for
re-election for Pacific Region VP
Nominating Committee
David reports
that most positions have been filled. Rick Gulstrom has volunteered
to be President next year. VP and Secretary are still not concrete. The slate needs to be solidified by Tuesday, Oct. 12, as that’s the
Zündfolge deadline. The Nominating Committee also proposed
three new Board positions: Autocross Chair, Risk Manager, and
Registrar. After much discussion it was decided to not add any of
the three new positions.
Autocrossing will be limited next year
to see what the level of interest is. Autocrossing will be
within the Driving Events Committee for the time being. Risk
Manager will also be part of the Driving Events Committee since
driving events generate most of our risk. However, the Risk Manager
will arrange insurance for all Club events. Registration for
events will return to the event chairs or committees in charge of
the event rather than have a separate Registrar
Treasurer's Report
David
reports that the treasury is in it's usual good shape. He
distributed a report, which is attached to these minutes by its mention.
Current assets total $90,995.87, with $76,832.34 in cash. Both
Zündfolge and Track are on their budgets. Committee draft
operating budgets for 2005 are due at the December Board meeting, and
final budgets are due at the January meeting.
General Meetings Past events:
Book Signing, 9/11 - 25 people

show.
Hornet Race, 9/25 - 20 people
attended. No Club hornet due to a cracked block. Lance is
happy to still be alive.
Upcoming events:
Video Night, 10/13 - everything's
ready to go. Bulk email will go out on Sunday. Will feature
footage from Jeff Butler's first Novice race and M3 GTR's at the
Nurburgring
Tom Armstrong Collection Tour -
Lynne is not having luck contacting Mr. Armstrong.
Will possibly happen in the racing off-season, 2005
VRM Tour - No report, will
hopefully happen next Spring.
Tours and Rally
Tours -
• Past tours
•
Hurricane Ridge / Maloney Car Collection, 9/12 -
best Tour yet! Martin was very happy with how this
event worked out. Great route, and Mr. Maloney was a very gracious
host.
•
Fall Wine Tour, 10/2 - Ken did a
great job. 30 cars went, lunch was fantastic.
• Future tours:
•
Fall Color, 10/9 - This will be the
last tour of the year. Everything is ready to go.
Rally - no report
Track Committee
Past Events -
none
Upcoming Events -
• October 17th Novice school
is ready to go. The classroom session will be at the Mercer Island
Library on the 14th. 55 people are registered as of 10/7, we can
take up to 70
• October 30th school (Portland) is ready to go. Bill has
ordered the food, and met with the track administrator. 37 are
registered as 10/7. We will take up to 80.
• Chris Mason reports that November 13th Advanced Skills Day at Bremerton
is ready to go. 11 people are signed up. We need 30 to break
even.
General Business -
• Bill has done some more work
on the storage situation for our track gear. He is of the opinion
that we'd be better served by purchasing an enclosed trailer as opposed
to a shipping container. This would be located somewhere central
in the Metro area in a secured storage facility. It could hold ALL
of the gear, instead of just the Bremerton cones, and could be taken to
any venue instead just at Bremerton.
• Jason Fiorito has set up a Pacific Raceways Road Course Advisory
Board. He has asked for us to send one delegate. Lance
volunteered. Thank you Lance!
SIG Groups and Events
E30 Tech Session, 10/10 - About 30
people have registered. Will be at Eastside Bavarian. They
will concentrate on typical wear items with high-mileage E30 M3's.
As a bonus, Chris Gochev will show how he's coming along on an M1
restoration.
Banquet
The location (Seattle Design Center) is secured. de-Anna needed to
decide ticket prices, and asked the Board's opinion. After
discussing several options, Alan made a MOTION to go with $40 per
person for early registration, and $50 for late registration.
Lucetta SECONDED. The motion CARRIED, with one
against
Concours
BMW Seattle has been billed for the event sponsorship.
Zündfolge
• The

•
Lucetta has quite few copies of past issues. Please contact her if
you're interested. Otherwise, they'll be recycled.
•
The new advertising rate has been confirmed with the advertisers.

Roundabout
Jeff - has a possible Board meeting
location in mind. He'll check with them and report back.
David - went to Roadster Homecoming
in Spartanburg, highly recommends it.
Lance - saw the original 2002 Hornet
up in Monroe.
Walt - won an M3 GTR at O'fest last
month. Unfortunately it's only about 6 inches long. But it's
still pretty fast!
Bill - the latest revision of the
Drivers' Handbook is going to the printer
Rick - had a Member enquire about
the possible value of an early 5 series. No one had a strong
opinion without seeing the car.
Tom Cox - Has 2 months worth of Club
mail. Take some magazines! He has a new job that will take
him on the road often. May need to ask for help administrating the
Board meetings.
Tom Cox adjourned the meeting at 9:45pm
Respectfully submitted,
Tom Olsson
Secretary
