News from National
News is rather light because of the Holidays:

National Forms
Forms are due into National by the end of the month. These include some new ones. Tom will work together with David to make sure these get submitted.

2004 Dates
Tech Fest East, to be held in Reston, VA, May 13-16
Octoberfest, to be held in Pasadena, CA, July 4-9

Treasurer's Report
A balance sheet was presented.  Not much has changed since last month. Assets total $82,060.
We are still looking for some expense money owed the Chapter by the BMW Foundation's Street Survival School from 2003.  David is working diligently to get that.

General Meetings

Collectibles Meeting, 12/6 - David reports that 20 people attended, seemed to be well received by all involved.  Kudos to Lance for bringing over half of the contents of his house.

Issaquah Car Collection, 4/? - Doug reports that a member is interested in organizing a tour of a private car collection in Issaquah.  This event will possibly happen in April.

E46 Tech Session, 2/7 - No report as Bill was not able to attend.  All appears ready to go.

6-series Introduction, 3/26 - David will work with the local dealerships to get an event scheduled.  Nothing set up yet.

All Members Meeting, 3/27 - Rick reports that the first promo for this event will be in the coming Zündfolge.  The format will be the same as last year.

Track Safety Tech, 4/? - Tom Olsson reports that Andy from Armadillo Racing is committed to the event, but cannot commit to a date until the 2004 racing schedules are posted.

Karting Enduro, 4/25 - A budget was passed out.  Tom Olsson reports that the deposit has been paid for the event.  Due to good news about the insurance cost (free), he's comfortable keeping the entry fee at $50 per person.

Autobody Tech Session, 4/17 - proceeding as planned

TC Kline Tech Session, tentatively 5/8 or 9 - Walt reports that Jamie Thomas is working with TC Kline to set up a tech session.  Still looking for a likely venue to hold it at.

Griot's Tech Session, 6/12 - Doug reports that this will be geared much more towards getting your car ready for the Concours, so more technical information on engine bays, interiors, etc.

DIY Sessions - A discussion was started by Doug and Tom Cox regarding this new type of event - a small-scale, hands-on type tech session, where the participants learn new skills while working on their own cars.  These would occur on a much shorter term, and as demand arises.  At this point, it would seem best to treat these events the same as a SIG event.  Doug will research how other Chapters are handling these type of events.

Tours and Rallies
Ken reports that there is a Spring Rally being planned for April.  He is also planning to do another Wine Tour in October.  de-Anna reported that a Napa Valley wine tour may also be in the works.

Track
There was a December meeting of the Track Committee principals to work on the upcoming Instructor clinic.  The event seems to be on track.  Walt has been researching the Genesee Valley teaching method, and is in contact with them to exchange ideas.  A promotional article for the Instructor clinic will be in the February Zündfolge.  There will be 40 spots, costing $125.  The Porsche Club has expressed interest in joining us at this clinic, and the Board encouraged Walt to welcome them.  There will be a classroom session one week before the track session, which is mandatory for all participants.

David submitted a 2004 track budget written by Bill, who could not attend.

SIG Groups and Events
Mike reports that we are still looking for an E46 model enthusiast.  We will hopefully find a person interested in the position at the upcoming E46 tech session.
The Seattle 5's will have an article in the upcoming Zündfolge, and the 2002 SIG will have an event listed in the Kalendar

Banquet (Jan. 24)
de-Anna reports that we now have 136 reservations, which is right on track.  de-Anna is currently working on systems to smooth out the registration process.  Confirmations should be mailed out by next Saturday.  We are still in need of 6-8 people to help with check-out at the end of the evening.
Walt is working on the slide show.
Tom Cox agreed to be the evening's MC, and Lance agreed to be the auctioneer.

Zündfolge
Lucetta presented the 2004 Zündfolge budget.
Six extra-page issues are planned for 2004, although Lucetta may need more to accommodate all of the new advertisers.
Feb. 3rd is the deadline for the March issue.

By-Law Amendment
Lance Richert made a MOTION to amend paragraph 7.4 of the Club By-Laws to increase the discretionary spending limit per event to $200.  Jim Millet SECONDED the motion.  Upon VOTE the motion was PASSED.  The vote was unanimous.

Roster and Membership
Rick reports that there are 74,904 national members.  There are 59 new local members, but a local total was not available.  Louis is working with Dale to get the Club emails sent out by the website server.

Website
de-Anna asked about the possibility of accepting payment for events through the website.  She will follow up with Dale, as it would seem to be possible and not too expensive.

Concours
Lance reports that an announcement will be in the Feb. Zündfolge that the 8-series will be the featured car for 2004.

Next Board meeting - Feb. 5th
It will be at the MICC, and Martin has volunteered to bring the food.
