BMW CCA Puget Sound Board Meeting

October 01, 2003, MICC

President Tom Cox called the meeting to order at 7:05

Presidents Report

News from National: The National Raffle will occur on October 14, apparently there are 12 M3’s up for grabs; A low turn-out for October-fest is forecast; Surveys are going out to chapter presidents and treasurers; there are hints of possible budget cuts; there is no resolution yet to the threat of litigation, although we don’t know what the litigation is about; a New Membership committee has been formed.

Street Survival (Kevin York): Scheduled for October 18th, there are 13 participants to date. There will be a press push to get the number up to 20. Miss Washington (!) who has also taken “Safe Driving” up as one of her agendas, may show up at the event. Cones and a water truck are still needed. Lynn Eskil had some recommendations on that matter.

Past Events

PCA St. Michelle Concours: about 60 cars attended, $2,200 raised for DCA. Nice cars comfortable turn out. Possibly overshadowed by the Kirkland Concours of very high-end cars. PCA is encouraged to coordinate with other events to either piggy-back or separate in time.

E-30 Tech: 60 to 70 attendees at Strictly BMW, who did a great job! The event may be moved to later in year so that people don’t skip it due to good driving weather.

Upcoming Events

Mucklestone Tech: 28 reservations, all set to go

Workers Appreciation meeting: Red Hook Brewery has a facility that would work, target is 1st week in December.

Video Night: On track for Nov 12

Women’s Tech: On track for Nov 22 at Car Tender

Collectibles Jumble: At MICC Dec 6, featuring the unimaginable Richert Collection!

Reports

Tours/Rallies:

Le May: Low attendance at 25 cars. Good tour, better information with the use of Docents by the museum.

SUV Tour: shut down due to fire hazards, all parks were closed.

BC Classic Rally: No report

Wine Tour: all set to go, just over 30 cars signed up.

Fall Rally: November 8 on Bainbridge Island

Track: 36 signed up for Novice school at Bremerton; 52 signed up for Laguna Seca, we are over the break-even point; Wes is trying to set up a program similar to this years’ at PR; Collision avoidance lights are operational with new high tech circuitry.

SIG Events: Z series/coupe run had 11 cars participate, E-36 Picnic all set for Oct 12 in Bellevue, E-30 SIG Chair position still unfilled.

Banquet: No auction donations yet, No trailers yet (David L. will organize this), Registration forms will be in the Nov/Dec ZF.

Concours: Good event, well attended. David reports: I made a mistake on the Concours accounting that I presented at the October Board meeting. After taking a second look I realize that I missed a $1300+ deposit of fees from the day of the event. That puts the event at a profit of about $300 instead of a loss of about $1000. In other words, it’s about where Lance reported at the September meeting.

Zunfolge: Oct 14 is deadline for Nov/Dec issue. We have no new advertisers, but we also have no delinquent advertisers. (Jim Millet must be out and about with his baseball bat).

Treasurers Report: David gave an extensive briefing on the Q3 financial position. In summary: The overall Club finances remain as presented. We’re down in our cash position about $21K from the start of the year and our operating loss is about $12K for the nine months to date. For the full 6-page report, please contact David. The report is by this reference included in these minutes.

Membership: 60 new members, 2897 total

Web Site: No report

Nominating Committee: Working through the task in an orderly way. No new volunteers have stepped forward, but all slots will be filled with existing volunteers.

Next Board Meeting: MICC Nov 06. Louis HvD will do food again, thanks! It was great!

Respectfully Submitted,
