Michael Wold's 1986 325es
This is Michael Wold's 1986 325es w/145k, taken in sunny California after a loooong drive! I happened onto my Bimmer early last summer when a lady in the building I work in was selling it in anticipation of a new Beetle. I'd been thinking of a project car or pick-up - but when this popped up I just had to pick it up! Much more fun to drive than my Taurus wagon!! :) This '86 has 145K on it and runs great. Everything works - well almost... the trip computer is half out (thermometer reads 129 deg!) and the fog lamps aren't hooked up - I think the air dam was mashed sometime and that detail was neglected. Can't figure where to splice wires into yet! Went on a rode trip from Seattle to Pismo Beach, CA in November. Cruised I-5 at an avg of 80 and was jazzed about how rock solid the car handled and how loud I could play the stereo since I was traveling alone! The ES has a really nice sound system. :) Coming back was beautiful on Hwy 101 in CA - but deteriorated to rain from the Redwoods all the way through Oregon and on into Seattle... still, fun was had driving hard on some twisting miles from Cresent City to Grants Pass. No big plans for this daily driver other than keeping it clean and out of my soon-to-be sixteen year olds hands! |
