February 21 was a beautiful day for the first autocross of the year. The sunshine, dry pavement and gentle temperatures were amazing for February in the Pacific Northwest. As guests of the Porsche Club, BMW CCA PSR was well-represented, making up about twenty percent of the entrants. Roughly a third were regulars, a third had been to a few previous events, and the rest were first-timers who were very enthusiastic about their experience.
Piotr Szarkowicz, driving his beautiful white M3, placed first in the BMWTO class and twelfth overall.
M cars, 135i’s, and 335i’s, and 328is’s made up the class. It would be great to see some MINIs and Z cars at future events.
The next three events are on March 21, April, 25, and May 16. Information can be found at http://www.pnwr.org/Track/autocross/default.asp.
