Something you should consider attending is the Pacific Northwest Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, September 7th at the LeMay Museum in Tacoma. This isn’t the LeMay Family Collection Foundation located at Marymount, the site of the E30 Picnic. This is the LeMay Museum near the Tacoma Dome, just off I-5. The time will be 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
This show is really a taste of Pebble Beach moved a little closer to home form most of us. The Classic Car Club of America (CCCA) is heavily involved as are many of the organizers of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. This event was held for many years at Carillon Point and was known as the Kirkland Concours. Then it moved to Tacoma and the LeMay location but was still awkwardly called the Kirkland Concours. This year it has a new name but it remains the best classic car show in the Pacific Northwest.
This event is the same day as M Car Day at Griot’s Garage. Lucky for you, both events are in Tacoma, so you can easily get to both. Special classes for the Pacific Northwest Concours d’Elegance are:
✯ CCCA Classics Early
✯ CCCA Classics Late
✯ Shelby Mustang 1965-1970
✯ Mustang 1964-1973
✯ Muscle Cars 1964-1972
✯ Modified Vintage Flathead Hot Rods
✯ European Body, American Power Cars
✯ BMW Early and Significant Cars, up to Z8
✯ Brass/Antique Cars—pre-1920
✯ American Tail Fins—cars of the 1950s with significant tail fins
✯ Special Display
Hopefully you noticed the two BMW Classes, one for cars and one for motorcycles. The cars have been invited by our own Peter Gleeson. He has assembled probably the best group of BMW cars you will have ever seen.
This is a first-rate show and this type of show isn’t free. Adult ticket price is $35. There are discounts for children, students and LeMay Museum members. For more information visit the LeMay Museum website at: www.lemaymuseum.org.
